Contour Biennale invites visitors to experience moving image art in an inclusive, welcoming environment. We try to make our event as accessible as possible.

 

Wheelchair Accessibility

Most venues have completely wheelchair accessible entrances. Kunsthal Mechelen and TACK TICK have small steps at the entrance. All exhibition spaces can be navigated on a single level. Some doors may not be automated. Staff are happy to help if needed. A wheelchair is available to borrow at Kunsthal Mechelen.

 

Toilets

Unfortunately, most venues do not have wheelchair accessible toilets. There is one wheelchair accessible toilet available at De Noker. Nearby wheelchair accessible toilets are listed at Visit Mechelen.

 

Low-Stimulus Room

A quiet space is available at TACK TICK for anyone needing reduced sensory input. This room is here to help visitors regulate, rest, or decompress. Please help keep it calm for others and respect its intention. Earplugs, eye masks, fidget toys, and seating available for use. Please avoid loud audio, conversations, and bright or flashing lights in the Low-Stimulus Room.

 

Subtitles in Films

All films have English and Dutch subtitles. Content Notices All works on the route have content notices, available in this guide.

 

Seating

Each artwork has a designated seat to support rest, comfort, and longer engagement with the work.

 

Families

Unfortunately, there is no designated breastfeeding area or babychanging station on the route, but you’re welcome to do so wherever feels comfortable. Strollers can be stored in the entrance foyer of each venue. There is a family-friendly activity resource, more info at the back of this guide.

 

First Aid

First aid kits are available from the reception at Kunsthal Mechelen and in the bathroom under the sink at TACK TICK.

 

Assistance or Guide Dogs

All venues welcome assistance or guide dogs. Please indicate w Social Narrative To help you prepare for your visit, you can review our social narrative which outlines what to expect at each venue and provides a clear overview of what you’ll encounter during your visit.

 

Hidden Disability Sunflower

Contour Biennale has signed the Hidden Disability Sunflower pledge, and all staff will recognize the symbol and what it represents.

 

Cloakroom

There is no staffed cloakroom, but visitors can use the racks or lockers available at Kunsthal Mechelen, TACK TICK and De Noker.
